Gracias a dios thank god for St Patrick’s Day in the USA because you need a little bit of luck to make in the America. And it’s not about degrees, majors or where you graduated from, instead it’s about what you do with those college degrees. After I completed my BA and MA in Latin American Studies in the 1990s there were not too many career choices unless I continued onto a PhD. Social services and teaching were offered as careers that matched my degree so I selected k-12 teaching I remember my teacher advisor at Cal State University Los Angeles telling me to take a vow of poverty if I chose to go down the teaching road. Later in early 2000s I realized my degrees were not going to advance my career so thinking about lay-off proofing my career I completed an MA in EdTech. Today, happy for my choice as a k-12 public-school and charter educator where I delivered thousands of technology classes to k-12 and adult students. Sure I did not make it to billionaire status but my career was impactful, and ethical filled with purpose, empowering people with skills that changed their life. Be lucky on this St. Paddy’s Day that you graduated with a college degree and zero student loan debt and employed in your field of study. Having my teacher credentials is like insurance because there is a teacher shortage in the states. Boys and young men need to see positive strong male role models lesson more on that topic in separate blog post. At this point lucky to be employable, passed background checks for three states, three teacher certifications and positive student data. What else can a guy over 60 do for a living? Check out these videos I collected over the last several weeks on college and university education.
