Searching the Web using Duck Duck Go and Keywords

Problem: Your instructor would like you to practice using the Duck Duck Go search engine. He wants you to search for two interesting articles and then record the URL for each article and develop a short report on each article using Word.

Instructions: Use Duck Duck Go to perform the following tasks.

Part 1: Display the Duckduckgo Home Page

1. Start Chrome
2. Click the location bar, https://duckduckgo.com/ as the entry, and then click the Go button to display the Duck Duck Go home page. The home page contains the Duck Duck Go simple search form.

Part 2: Use the text box and the Find button in the Duck Duck Go simple search form to search for two of the following topics: virtual reality, computer generated graphics, Java applets, MLA style, or any extreme sport.

1. Find one or more informative Web pages about each topic you select.
2. Use Word, copy information about each topic from the Web pages into your Word document and develop a short report about each topic.
3. Add the URLs of the Web sites you used and your name to the report.
4. Save the document as Duck Duck Go with your initials.

Part 3:

1. Click the Advanced Search link in the Duck Duck Go search form.
2. Use the advanced Search form to locate three Web pages about three different universities that are NOT public universities. Sort the resulting Web pages using the word “university.”
3. Copy and paste your results into a new document.
4. Save the search as University with your initials.
