Impressive amount of summer education stories enough to burn an egg on a hot Arizona summer day. First we have the student loan debt issue on-and-off then off for sure but Biden and company are doing everything they can to relieve student loan debt for middle and upper middle class students who were doing fine. 1.4 trillion dollars is a scary number for degrees of dubious value. I recently came across this survey about 51% of Americans are against degrees with poor ROI. What is ROI? One acronym you should know ROI means Return On Investment the Article Here Why should people who never took-out college loans or majored in useless studies be left holding the bag for bullshit ball-and-chain college degrees? Where are the colleges with their massive endowments not supporting their grads for degrees of dubious value? Check out this infographic showing strong in-demand college degrees over degrees in decline.
Another interesting college story is come over from Yahoo Finance on the spiraling cost of college fueled by rampant government spending a racket that’s how colleges are financed by the government.
Then there is this Kanye told you about college tuition notice the upward trend in private and public college tuition exceeding the rate of national US inflation more than health care, home keep the college industrial complex strong. I follow this with the latest from my favorite journalist John Stossell skewering the college industrial complex CIC as a overhyped scam on the working and middle class of America. Check John’s tirade against the college industrial complex here.
Over here you have gold bug Peter Schiff says truck driving is better than a college degree.
With college inflation marching upward hopefully colleges and universities will reorganize their administrative bloat like useless DEI programs and eliminate wasteful college degrees that cannot fund themselves. I say that with degrees that are considered Ethnic Studies stuff you can learn in middle and high school or by YouTube.
Since colleges are experiencing enrollment they need a fresh crop of people who know little about our educational system until they are duped into believing a 4-5 year college degree is a ticket to the American middle class. Over at City Journal they had a story about colleges recruiting immigrants fresh over the border and into college classes These immigrant students remind me of the students I had back when I was an instructor at for-profit colleges like Westwood, ICDC and the Art Institute where they filled out the paperwork for students little did students know at the time they signed loan agreements.
Then to close out the summer we have my favorite anti-college guy who happens to be a college grad slamming those millions of Americans who took out student loans for useless college degrees. There are 9 million vacant jobs with 2-3 of those you could pay off your loans.
