Thats right. According to the September 7th Wall Street Journal erosion in the ability of the college degree to separate the haves-from the have-nots has only served to widen the chasm that exists in our country. Somewhat comparable to the sub-prime housing market debacle where the poor and working were scammed into believing a home would deliver a life-time of upward prosperity now the college degree with stagnant salaries is viewed as a ticket to a minimum wage entry level job. Research from Georgetown University presents conflicting evidence the BA continues to provide some insurance against economic turmoil yet their studies present that technical certificate holders out earn those with non STEM BA degrees. Mike Rowe was right-on about college degrees at the expense of skills and trades.

Yes, this is further evidence that short-term degrees & technical/vocational certifications should be promoted as viable alternatives to traditional four-year college degrees, especially non-STEM BA degrees.
